Working from live models, I paint these figures as individual body parts. I cut out the pieces and rejoin them with thread, adding paintings of flowers, insects or water to incorporate the human into the environment. Then I attach the final image to a scroll made of rich fabrics that mimic woodland textures.

Anthropocene is the term used by scientists to describe the most recent era in Earth’s history, and is characterized by significant human impact on the earth and atmosphere. Few places on earth have been untouched by human-made noise, chemicals, or climate change. We have infiltrated the environment.
